The Illinois Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (ILAFCS), was established in 1921 as a state affiliate of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS) which had been founded in 1909. ILAFCS is a non-profit, professional membership organization serving Family and Consumer Sciences professionals and students throughout Illinois.
AAFCS is the only national professional association that provides leadership and support to Family and Consumer Sciences professionals and students from both multiple practice settings and content areas. Through leadership support and opportunities to collaborate, AAFCS helps FCS professionals make a positive impact on the quality of life for individuals, families and communities.
